Letterboxd is showing some people (not me sadly 😞) this CAPTCHA challenge when they log Bugonia. Classic.

Saw Bugonia last night, and was curious about the memorable typeface used in the film's branding. As an ex-pat New Zealander I was pleasantly surprised to discover that is was designed by Samoan/New Zealand designer Joseph Churchward: collections.tepapa.govt.nz/object/91526...

Not sure if I should feel proud to have solved my first “evil” Clues by Sam, or embarrassed that it took me over an hour…

My random thoughts while watching The Lost Boys: Those gotta be real-life Santa Cruz punks in the opening montage. Shirtless sax guy never gets old. Chinese takeaway in the ‘80s was unflavoured white rice? Rob Lowe poster on Corey Haim’s wall. Mondrian bathrobe.

The Australian prime minister was photographed wearing a Joy Division T-Shirt, and The Guardian are having a field day with their headlines.

My Halloween sale is a little late this year, but there is still time to unleash your inner John Carpenter! oblivionsoundlab.com/product-cate...

I have become my parents. At A$5 including post I couldn’t resist. I feel a little guilty because I think the seller probably lost money on this one.

Todays haul. Reliving my youth. Like millions of other awkward teenagers The Violent Femmes were my favourite group. By art school it was The Pixies. Never owned Doolittle though, it was always just in the air. Not a U2 fan, but have a soft spot for War and got it for A$5.

One perk of being laid up for a few days is that I can catch up on some reading. Very much enjoying visiting Discworld again. Sir Pratchett certainly had a way with words.

Upgraded macOS. The top feature listed is "8 new emojis". Man, I have been missing out!

You know that you've been looking at too much psychedelic illustration on Pinterest when every suggestion in their daily email looks like this. (Who I am kidding: there is no such thing as too much psychedelic illustration!)

New Diva soundset! This one is a first for Oblivion Sound Lab: a collaboration! I teamed up with fellow Melbourne producer Killstarr, and we each designed 60 patches broadly in a dreamwave and chillwave style. oblivionsoundlab.com/product/drea...

This arrived in the post today. I've never actually owned any of The Smiths' albums, despite listening to them loads. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I can pick up second hand CDs for about the same price that I was paying 20 years ago. This one was A$11 shipped from the UK.

Oh yeah, here's a blast from the past! Another album that I forgot that I own on CD: Crydamoure presents Waves. An incredible selection of French filter house mixed by Le Knight Club (Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Eric Chédeville) on their own Crydamoure label. Nonstop bangers.

Today's CD from the archive: Sonic Youth - Dirty. Daydream Nation will always be my favourite Sonic Youth album, but Dirty is still fantastic, even if it was an attempt to cash in on the popularity of grunge. The kitsch cover photo is by Mike Kelley, which appealed to art school me in 1992.

Another CD from the archives. Great track selection. Pure glitz. I have very fond memories of the electroclash era.

Trying to wean myself off Spotify. Buying some favourite albums on CD, and rediscovering the few CDs I hung onto. This morning: DJ Shadow - Preemptive Strike. What Does Your Soul Look Like, High Noon and Organ Donor (of course!) are still 🔥

I have no idea what this is but it has something to do with the band Yacht and Panic, who published Firewatch and Untitled Goose Game. It's for a handheld console I just heard of called Playdate, made by Panic and Teenage Engineering. It looks cool as hell. blippo.plus

I've got a "summer" sale going on. Inverted commas because it's winter where I live. In the past people got confused when I called it a winter sale, so I now bow to tradition. You won, northern hemisphere! I hope you're happy! oblivionsoundlab.com/product-cate...

I should probably read this. Babbling Corpse: Vaporwave and the Commodification of Ghosts

Played the prologue of The Quarry last night. Having a blast! It's a Telltale style game, with an '80s horror aesthetic. Not very interactive, more like watching a movie, but solid acting and gorgeous graphics and cinematography. Yes that's David Arquette on the cover.

I hate how American large car culture has infiltrated Australia and New Zealand. Was reading a piece about it that referenced the blind zone in front of some vehicles due to raised, flat hoods. The SUV driver cannot see any of these kids:
