How many of the people who were scammed were/are also Republican? That seems like a question worth investigating. Protection for illegal actions like this directly puts his own supporters at risk.

This also needs to informed with an awareness of how the exceedingly wealthy are causing and exploiting that sense of futility. Their truly bizarre level of agency -- especially control of other people's lives -- makes them immune to any kind of meaningful accountability.

This is simply untenable.
