Shout out to my coworkers as they listen to me rant about the Huntington Beach City Council. I stand with y'all @fotlhb.bsky.social #huntingtonbeach #library @voiceofoc.bsky.social

I can definitely tell that I have gotten used to living in Flanders because I was recently in Brussels and was frustrated everything was in French. I have started to understand Dutch #americaninbelgium

Is it bad that I am planning some of my trips around Europe on the anniversary of WWII battles. I swear I am not turning into one of those men who's only hobby is WWII. I just think it makes sense #americaninbelgium #wwii

Much to my coworkers chagrin, I REFUSE to give up my Fahrenheit. The only Celcius I know is the energy drink since I work in Kelvin instead #temperature #metricvsimperial #fahrenheitisbetter

I used to find it fun that I was from Surf City. Now, I cringe any time I see Huntington Beach in the news (although I am excited for this new redistricting). I have seen HB and ACLU in the same headline way too many times #huntingtonbeach #liberal

If I had a nickel for everytime I have gotten an infection in my right hand, I would have two nickels which isn't a lot but frustrating that it's happened twice #infection #immunesystem #mybodygaveup

I never thought I would have to explain a russet potato today, but then again, I didn't think I would miss them. They aren't really a think in Belgium though #potatoes #belgium #americaninbelgium

One of the things I already miss now living in Belgium, highly caffeinated energy drink. Everything is like 80 mg. I want my 200 mg Alanis. I want to have to do math to make sure I don't overload my nervous system #caffeine #americaninbelgium

I am trying to compile a list of books to request my local library to get involving civil/womens/lgbtq+ rights. Note, this library has seemed to ban The Bluest Eye. Any recommendations will be highly recommended #bookrecs #librarybooks

I don't think we acknowledge how universal "Flatland" by Edwin Abbott Abbott is. I referenced it in my dissertation because it works well in describing phase space for HEAs. Keon West also used it to describe intersectionality with racism and other social issues #flatland #matsci #keonwest

It's kind of funny watching reruns of jeopardy during the Ken Jennings's original run because I know exactly how it ends #jeopardy

Well, I have been trying spearmint tea to help with PCOS. If nothing else, I am appreciating the rituals of my evening cup of tea #tea #spearminttea #pcos

Welp, I just read a very scary dystopian. It's also real life #reading #theproject #readingispolitical

The only patriotic thing I am doing for the 4th of July is drinking a Sam Adams, but they have also been my go to for decades. Also currently reading "We are not from here" #samadams

I am watching the oceangate documentary, and they are talking about the carbon fiber composites. It's a good reminder on why I like metals way more #materialscience #oceangate #materialsengineering

I apologize to my local library, but y'all are about to get a lot of book requests from me because currently, there are very few books about combating racism in their catalog #library #librarycards #education #workingtobeantiracist

I don't think we acknowledge enough that with newspapers being less common, we loose valuable moving materials. I hoard the same newspapers more than boxes when moving #moving #newspapers

It's been a very John Green day. I listened to "Everything is Tuberculosis", got my order of Keats & Co coffee order, and then watched Julius Caeser which was the inspiration for "The Fault in Our Stars" title. This has been very unintentional #nerdfighteria

I was curious so I looked up the Young for Young's modulus fame and turns that man also helped decifer the Egyptian hieroglyphs from the Rosetta stone 🤯 #materialscience #materialsengineering

Not only is Callister a useful textbook to teach materials engineering, but it's a great substitute if you need a weight while baking #materialscience #womeninstem

Finally got to fill out a form and select Dr as my title. It was for the zoo tickets but it counts! #phdlife #justdefended

Fan fiction has warped my understanding of a word count. I don't read a one-shot under a 1000, but it takes hours for me to write 1000 words for a paper #academicwriting #academia
