Interesting take. As a person with diabetes who went to public school and dealt with being seen as different due to a high maintenance life long condition, I don't want future kids with diabetes to have to deal with the same stigma and estrangement I did.

Such as allowing them to use their phones to manage their condition. Their peers won't realize that it's for medical reasons, like bolusing for a meal, checking blood sugar, or silencing an alarm for a high/low. By not allowing phone use the kids won't be able to manage their condition.

What about children who need to use a smartphone for medical reasons, like an insulin pump or continuous glucose monitor? Singling these kids out will likely cause issues with their peers or their health.
