The way the brain — under the influence of psychedelics — builds narratives to make sense of mystical visions (gods, aliens, snakes, temples) fits perfectly with Kahneman’s ideas on fast thinking and the mind’s need to fill in the gaps. Fascinating.

Funny how two books, seemingly unrelated, can end up connecting so well.
While reading Psychedelics: The Revolutionary Psychiatry by David Nutt, I keep thinking back to Daniel Kahneman’s Thinking, Fast and Slow.

A forma como o cérebro, sob efeito de psicadélicos, cria narrativas para dar sentido a visões místicas — deuses, aliens, cobras, templos — encaixa na perfeição nas teorias de Kahneman sobre o pensamento rápido e a urgência em preencher lacunas. Fascinante.

Engraçado quando dois livros, à partida tão distintos, acabam por se cruzar.
Enquanto leio Psicadélicos — um guia completo sobre as substâncias revolucionárias que podem mudar a sua vida (David Nutt), dou por mim a lembrar constantemente em Pensar, Depressa e Devagar (Daniel Kahneman).
