No database costs incurred, and you can shut down the website whenever without affecting the handle users!

I made an example using my domain aussie.monster
If you’d like to try it, check out my GitHub repo: ‘porkbun-bluesky-handles’.

It’s an all-in-one website and REST API that lets users connect their Bluesky account and automatically create the correct `_atproto.<subdomain>` TXT record inside Porkbun, no database required. Handles keep working even if you shut down the site, because the verification lives directly in DNS.

Using Porkbun’s DNS API, this becomes incredibly straightforward — and that’s exactly what porkbun-bluesky-handles does.

But in reality, all a Bluesky handle needs is a proper DNS TXT record that points to the user’s DID. So why not skip the database entirely and talk directly to your domain registrar?

Typically, when hosting a Bluesky custom handle generator, you’re required to set up a database of user handles and Bluesky account IDs. This can be tedious when all you want to do is make a simple handle generator for a few of your friends or followers (not a community like swifties.social).

It must be said, that while in many ways the same, and many ways different, both Robert Menzies and Herbert Evatt believed in the White Australia Policy.

Although never grasping the title of Prime Minister, Evatt would, for a decade lead the opposition as labour leader agains Menzies liberal party for a decade.

He had also helped in writing the united nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Evatt resigned from the high court to pursue politics, and would be elected an MP. After the second world war, Evatt would play a leading role in founding the United Nations, and was President of the United Nations General Assembly from 1948-49.

The rivalry between the Melbourne university and Sydney University law graduates would continue on into federal politics.

Leading on from his graduation, Evatt worked as a lawyer and eventually became a high court justice. It's fascinating to know that at the time of working as a lawyer, Evatt had clashed with Robert Menzies, in a case and lost.

Evatt was born in New South Whales, and was brought up in Sydney. Even at an early age he achieved excellent performance in academia, and enrolled in Sydney University. He graduated with a master of arts, and then a bachelor of Laws with first-class honours.
