a lot of the western media wasn't ever really localized and officially distributed in a lot of soviet countries so people just got used to pirating it or getting a bootleg copy somewhere, nowadays we actually have ways to access foreign stuff but people are too stubborn to change anything

i come from a post-soviet country so piracy is really EXPECTED here, and when u pay for a game people r like "why would u do that when u can just pirate it!"
