Also "not political". I immediately read that as "politics has never affected me and I don't care about other people, so....of course I'm not political"

Former lead singer of a girl band who now makes and delivers balloon arches and other arrangements. If only I’d seen this question yesterday I’d have had a much cooler job *sad*

Yet, that side of my family has always appreciated that we somehow escaped, ended up in America, and know how lucky we were. The idea that someone would turn around and then declare another group of people "other" is mind-blowing to me. I literally can't wrap my head around it.

What kills me is that Steven Miller's ancestors came to the US to escape the pogroms, and, if accounts are correct, the town his ancestors escaped from was basically later "purged" of Jews by the Nazis. My g-gpa escaped from Grodno in 1905...which was later almost completely "purged" of Jews. 1/2

*sigh* Stuff like this always reminds me of when I moved to New Mexico (for a teaching job) and people (not from New Mexico) would ask me if I needed my passport to move there.

Racial profiling is now allowed. Kavanaugh stop

On the one hand, I get what you're saying, but, on the other hand, wouldn't it be great to get some of those people an actual education?

NYS does to anyone earning under 125K/year
December 26, 2025 at 2:49 PM
New York State basically does that for anyone making under 125K/year. Free community college and free public undergrad (and approved 5-year degree programs - like a 3/2).

After my now-ex-husband’s mistress berated me (via Facebook) for not being nicer to her when she showed up during an ER visit for my then-3-year old who was having trouble breathing, I called her a “common guttersnipe”. I still consider it some of my best work.

If your millenial ass could not force me go to Urban Dictionary to understand your post, I'd consider that my Christmas present. Yours from me is me not stealing that gif below to be deployed at a later time...

I very rarely watch any tv, and when I do, it's, like, sitcoms from 1997 or something, so, I didn't even know this piece existed until Bari decided to kill it. Heck, I didn't even know 60 minutes still existed. Now I've seen this piece everywhere. LOL.

I was thinking about springing for a trip to Philly to watch Luka Modric play in his (almost certainly) last World Cup. My daughter and I love him (we were in Croatia during the 2018 World Cup, which was amazing). But now, I really hope all the big countries drop out in solidarity.

Haiti, Iran, Senegal, Ivory Coast. Congo is still in a position to potentially qualify. Nigeria is also still in the running because they are petitioning because of some irregularities with Congolese players. So, Nigeria or Congo might still be able to qualify.

There were at least two students who survived both the Oxford high school shooting in 2021, and then also the MSU shooting in 2023. Also two who survived Parkland in 2018, and then again at FSU this year.

She's also not the only one. One of the other more recent mass shootings, they spoke with a couple of students who had already lived through one of the more infamous school shootings. I'll have to see if I can find that info.
