the funniest thing about visiting the Netherlands specifically in the company of the French is the Dutch kept apologizing for their food. the French didn't even deny it or try to reassure them, they were just like "well yes, but it is all right, we love you anyway"

did u know: the majestic sea flap has a lovely freshwater dwelling Amazonian cousin, the majestic river flap. learned this today at the MicroZoo that is apparently inside the walls of Saint Malo. I'm love them

I went to a fast food place and they gave me a tiny wooden fork to eat fries so that I did not need to indelicately touch them with my hands. the French are a joy and a delight

I have as yet no practical use for the olive oil soap cube but I was compelled to purchase it. look at it. it's so cube. I'm normal about shapes.

I've been in France a month and I only now finally have a bank account. (this is not the fault of the French, who're lovely. it's bc I'm a US citizen and the USG is unhinged about expats. god forbid I could possibly receive 2 euro cents of bank interest without filing 60 forms.) yaaaay,,

I also saw a jackdaw but did not catch a photo of him, alas

driving in nyc is exactly as horrible as everyone warned me but on the bright side, nice coffee shops.

spent 3hrs yesterday hitting a tree with a stick and occasionally asking scadian knights for advice on how to rotate my ankle correctly and sit and this was actually great. I've been doing swords slightly wrong for eighteen years and getting away with it by being fast but now I'm old and slow 😅

jfc all the pictures of zelenskyy this week look like he's aged twenty years in the last three. I know you'd have to fix like a dozen global catastrophes before he'd be willing to take a vacation but can someone get that poor man a blanket and a cup of tea and a year in time dilation to nap

cons of sca heavy: incredible massive hassle to obtain enough kit and then put it on. and then with all that armor on I can only go like three rounds in the sun before I need a half-hour break. it's all heavy and unwieldy and my Go Fast is gone. adjusting to new rules.

pros: b o n k

Berkeley is very nice to visit but every time I try the traffic reminds me how much I do not want to live there

attempting to take up sca heavy; main obstacles are logistics and social anxiety. fortunately the scadians love to solve logistics problems if it results in more friends who will hit them with swords, and guess what's really good for social anxiety? that's right it's hitting your friends with swords

little space crows are not usually given such laser targeted gifts but my goodness. I am being a shameless advertisement right now for this fabulous place (food was good, drinks were incredible). look at their little mascot... he's got a tiny crowbar for his olives...... 🥺 💕

did u know that if you're really out of shape, climbing through the snow at like thirty degrees incline knocks you flat on your ass after like half a mile. v rude of human biology t b q h.

(do recommend anyway. it's a lovely mountain and the only way to git gud is to suck a bunch first.)

the second museum I went to was the art museum! which you should really devote a whole day to when visiting if you can, I missed like 80% of it and was still 45 minutes late for my dinner reservation, but the special exhibit was great and I wouldn't rather have not had time to go at all.

I went to two museums yesterday (barely scratching the surface of the gazillion museums Seattle seems to have)! the museum of illusions had many delightful objects that are hard to fully convey the niftiness of with photography.

other meandering highlights: the Ravens Nest in Pike Place Market (which also has a giant metal squid) has many cool rocks, and Café Olpa has an iced coffee tasting flight (the food is also good)!! I love when the joy of flavor mixing is not limited to alcoholic drinks (...love those too, but).

the purple store is a REAL PLACE in REAL LIFE. purple crows are filled with joy about this, naturally.

underappreciated cat superpower: preventing me from getting up off the couch and going to play video games, causing me to actually get around to books I've been meaning to read. Nate Silver manages to make baseball statistics interesting with sheer enthusiasm; I love this for him and also for me.
