I understand how paragraphs like this emerge from the editing process, but of course “little attention has been given” to a story no one knew about a minor victim whose identity was protected by a bunch of laws.
As Schmidt says in his post, this is our first encounter with this information.

I think the statement the paper gave the Post last night suggests editors became aware of—and took a critical attitude toward—the cozy relationship between Epstein and Landon Thomas at some point, although I’ll concede they don’t exactly say so.

Landon Thomas’s behavior seems to be embarrassing enough to the Times hierarchy that they had their spokesman go on record insinuating to the Post that he was fired for cause. I wonder whether legal signed off on that. nypost.com/2025/11/12/u...

I wish journalists could act like they weren’t born yesterday. An uncurated document dump out of an investigation shortly after focused evidence is released is an expression of panic, a desperate wish to distract, and perhaps a hope that someone will find something they haven’t yet.
