Some big decisions to be made in the next few years, especially around our more experienced players, and also highlights some key positions we need to be targetting in the transfer window.

📊 Hornchurch FC 24/25 Season Review
Our first NLS campaign since 2012/13 and we’ve proved we belong.

🔹 15th in goals scored
🔹 9th in goals conceded (better than playoff Worthing)

🔼 Heavy improvement post January. Solid platform to build on.

Always been pretty close games between us and Brentford, insane some of the toxicity i've seen given to our young players from today. We've played full strength XIs before and barely managed to get pts vs them.

I've seen some peoples predicted XIs vs Brentford, thought I'd show what I would consider.

Defiantly think a lot of the young lads who appeared in the travelling squad for Bilbao will play apart.

The data below covers our last 4 European matches (incl. 120’ extra‑time) + last 6 Premier League games.

With our main focus on the Europa League, we need to trim workloads.

Last remaining fixtures:
Brentford, Athletic Club, West Ham, Chelsea, (Potential Europa Final) & Villa

Think the game wouldve deserved a draw, neither team did much.

From a Manchester United perspective we lacked quality in their final third; poor crosses and a lack of aerial threats.

Lack of DMs opened us up a bit in favour of creating more against a low block, never looked like scoring though.

Since Jan 1, Leeds have played 15 Championship games. In that time:

Dan James: 1281/1350 mins (+150 NT, +12 FA Cup)
Solomon: 1165/1350 mins (+179 NT, + 98 FA Cup)

Meanwhile, Gnonto (167 mins) & Largie (145 mins) barely play. Insane they haven’t been rotated more.

Not sure I see Ruud getting to the end of the season with Leicester, worse record than Cooper and absolute brutal fixtures for them. Any sense of progress has seemed to completely vanish, been absolutely woeful today.

Wasn't a fan of Stolar being dropped, but any GK struggles with that backline.

If we look at the top 5 injured players each season, a clear pattern emerges: under Amorim, the list is largely made up of injury-prone players and fringe members of the squad.

This is a massive improvement where before key players were sidelined for long stretches.

✨ Injury Comparison: This Season vs. Last Season ✨
🔍 How have things changed since Amorim's arrival?

We’re just over halfway through the season, and if we keep up this form, we’ll see a significant reduction in injuries compared to last year

Compared to our links/targets (Mendes, Davies, Nouri, Kerkez, Robinson) he is nowhere as good, and the data is limited since hes only played 200 minutes this season but is a free option.
Most likely will end up at Porto though.

Would also want to keep Alvaro at Benfica to develop more.

Should we consider a loan move for Valentín Barco given our limited budget?

He’d offer a natural LB option who's heavily involved in the attack phases and while not the strongest defensively, he’d improve our structure and depth.

Hard to see us spending £25-30m on a lb at the moment.

This is probably our strongest lineup right now. Glad to see Højlund starting, especially considering who’s playing as the AMs, already addressing one of the mistakes from last game. Hopefully, if Ugarte is subbed off again, we’ll see Case/Collyer come on to maintain midfield stability this time.

A similar opportunity arose in the Aston Villa game, one that'd make us level at halftime and shift momentum. Pass was better this time arguably could’ve found Zirkzee. Bruno’s finish, however, was poor—he simply has to score.

Play began with Zirkzee pressing the second ball and Mainoo’s block.
December 23, 2024 at 4:06 PM
Compared to his last season at Bologna, Zirkzee’s shot volume has nearly halved. Even in his Man Utd debut, despite scoring, he managed just 1 shot in 29 mins after dropping deep, linking play, and arriving late in the box—while Bruno and Garnacho had 2 shots each in the same period.
December 23, 2024 at 1:53 PM
However, he has a tendency to drop too deep at times, which limits his presence in the box and reduces his shot volume. With limited minutes, he’s averaging just 2.18 shots per game, scoring 3 goals from 3 xG—a problem both of our strikers are currently facing.

Given the injuries and lack of options at LWB, having Maz and Dalot to fill those roles is a real advantage. Their versatility has been crucial this season.

If he can improve on his crosses and carries, he’ll become more important in our attacking phases. Hoping to see by the end of the season.

This was seemingly noticed by Foden and Haaland, however neither of them knew which one should be pressing Martinez, and by the time Foden attempts to press him the ball has already been launched to Amad.
December 15, 2024 at 11:53 PM
In the second instance, Martínez again holds until Amad’s run, this time targeting him directly, leading to the winning goal.

These patterns help highlight some growing tactical cohesion and development under Amorim.
December 15, 2024 at 11:50 PM
In the first instance, Amad's run draws the defender, creating more space for Antony on the wing. Though the pass isn't ideal and Antony is marked by the time it reaches him, it results in the opposition players sitting inside their box, with us having final third control.
December 15, 2024 at 11:47 PM
In terms of his possession lost in the 1st half, I counted 12 incidents, mainly from misplaced short passes (common among multiple teammates), including one in our final third.

Some passes while reaching teammates were poorly placed forcing them to stretch.

Not sure if theres a reason why.
