Some Black (domestic, hair) History: This is a hot comb. Many generations of Black women in the U.S. pressed their hair with it after heating up on a stove, to straighten their hair if they didn’t have “good hair.” This is the one my mother used on my hair when I was growing up.

I found this at my parents’ house recently. Definitely something my dad bought years ago. He probably listened to it at some point. My dad’s a disorganized hoarder. I found this in an old clothes hamper along with 10 bars of soap, among other things.
