Great, but also frustrating paper. Nearly every ED is drowning in the boarding crisis, but this is not an ED problem; it's a hospital crowding problem. Once inpatient occupancy crosses the threshold (~90%), flow slows and backs up into the ED (and the waiting room). 1/

Most days it felt like it would never end, but all of a sudden residency is over. Intern year feels like a lifetime ago, but I will never forget my first shift in the Hopkins ED. I arrived over an hour early. To do what exactly? I am still not sure.
