I addressed this in an article I published about heather beetle a little while ago, land managers create firebreaks, so why not beetle breaks?

Latest reading material, some light, others more heavy-going, should keep me going for a while but I can hardly find the time to read anything nowadays!

Barry at Sue’s Deli in Clitheroe Market saved this out-of-date cream for me to make butter with, he even called me to let me know he had it!
You don’t get service like that in a supermarket!

Please pray for Jamaica, the hurricane they’re going to get pummelled by #Melissa could be, with 175mph+ winds, the strongest ever to hit them since 1851, it’s already at the limits for how big a hurricane can be at that latitude.

Meet Billy (my wife named him)
He wandered into work with a broken wing.
I somehow ended up taking him home.
We took him to the vets, he’s got an air-rifle pellet lodged in his wing and he’ll never fly again.
So it looks like we now have a pigeon!

We’ve got hundreds of these, orb web spiders, you can’t go out without destroying their artworks 😢
I find myself walking about like an Egyptian trying to avoid getting cobwebs in my face!

Just looked at my childhood home (I know you’re not meant to do this) as I’m writing about Fulwood barracks opposite and discovered that, as well as the garden looking beautiful, the fir tree I planted with my dad in 1984 is still there and about 50ft tall!
