『ゾミア』4章をやりました。3章と似た議論が多いので特に新しいものはないのですが、山地民は「自らを野蛮化した」という言説についてはかなり怪しいのではないかという議論が反例と共になされました。

昨日は都内のミャンマー料理店で新歓を実施しました。会長はシャン料理好きなのですが、会の趣旨に寄せてかなりバマーな感じのチョイスにしました。

昨日は都内のミャンマー料理店で新歓を実施しました。会長はシャン料理好きなのですが、会の趣旨に寄せてかなりバマーな感じのチョイスにしました。
昨日は『ゾミア』3章を読み、スコットの議論に問題のある点を指摘しました。逃げるために焼畑をしているのではなく、水稲耕作を始めるにはコストがかかるので逃げるという選択肢が取りづらくなるのではないか、そもそも因果関係を取り違えているのではないかといった意見が出ました。スコットの議論はシャムやビルマの王朝時代のことわざを恣意的に持ってきたものであり、そこがかなり怪しいという意見も出ました。
