Middle-aged man with a cat and some books.
Yes, the writer is Irish and a Bowie fan also, so between Arsenal and Bowie, clearly impeccable taste.

The hair is magnificent indeed, I wonder if those guys got Aqua Net in their eyes while sweating out on the pitch. Very fluffy display.

Not Irish, just another Irish American who takes an inordinate interest in Irish things and likes his Irish heritage better than the other ancestries floating in my gene pool. In my defense (defence?), I at least like actual Irish culture and not the very confused American idea of Irishness.

He was really the last great Irish star for Arsenal, the youngest of a group from the Republic (and the North) that shone in the 70s and early 80s. North London was more Irish then, too. It was a welcome instance of Irish-English brotherhood during the worst of The Troubles.

Excellent choice with Rosicky - easily my favorite Arsenal player of the 21st century. I was brought into the Arsenal fold in 1986 by a college friend. My profile pic is David O’Leary.

Yes, though sometimes I wonder why I even care about the Premier League as it is today. I like Arsenal as the North London club, not as the corporate behemoth.
