First barbecue of the year today, and I’ve gone overboard on the salads. Plain cut veg for fussy boy child, celeriac and apple remoulade, coleslaw and (not pictured) orange, fennel and rocket salad. Chillies just for me to go with the jerk chicken, that was just for me.

New book day. Two crackers. Looking forward to warmer weather to “cook” the ajo blanco and beetroot. In the meantime Tom Kerridge’s chicken in a wild mushroom sauce is imminent. #cooking #food

Momentarily wondered how Gerard Butler could have teamed up with Phil, Rex, Charlie and Zakk without me having heard about it. Doesn’t help having a poster reminiscent of the Damageplan cover.

Friday night is about enjoying the good, simple things. Chablis, charcuterie, cheese and ch-baguettes. #wine

Appropriately, for George Miller’s 80th birthday, Nathan and I have been playing Games Workshop’s greatest game ever, Dark Future. He made up his own rules where the bikes go BOOOOOOM! A lot. #warhammercommunity

Sometimes I really miss Ask Jeeves.

Half term day off together. We’ve been swimming and cooking. Jess has very ably made the choux pastry for the potato croquettes.

One of those days when I get a nice little lunch perk and elevate an M&S sandwich with a selection of Forrest’s Marlborough wines. All absolutely great, but Chenin Blanc for the win today.

And just like that, I have a six year old.
