A century back, concern about the number of child brides dying at childbirth forced Indian lawmakers to raise the legal minimum age of marriage to 14. Who would have thought the "greatest nation on earth" would force 12 year olds to have children.
Over 100 children under the age of 17 — the age of consent in Texas — crossed state lines to receive abortion care during 2023, the first year of Texas' near-total abortion ban.
