Its hard to make a living on just one job as an EMT, as most places assume you're using it as a stepping stone and are in school or that its a side job, which is a bummer. I love being an EMT, and while I could go on to be a paramedic or nurse and make more money, school is expensive and hard

I got a job as transport, and made friends with some of the techs in the ER and on the floors. Decided I really liked medicine actually. Remembered when I was 13 and had to be hospitalized for some MH stuff and how i was treated during that process
