Cries in *Can’t afford to buy a disco ball globe for $300* (Your store looks AMAZING!!)

I read “On Tyranny” by @timothysnyder.bsky.social a few weeks ago and I’ve thought about this book multiple times a day since. Lesson 2, “Defend Institutions” has been on my mind specifically this week.
A book (“On Tyranny” by Timothy Snyder) is open to page 22. Under a large number 2, the text reads: “Defend institutions. It is institutions that help us to preserve decency. They need our help as well. Do not speak of “our institutions” unless you make them yours by acting on their behalf. Institutions do not protect themselves. They fall one after the other unless each is defended from the beginning. So choose an institution you care about—a court, a newspaper, a law, a labor union—and take its side.”

Decided to upgrade my water heater to a #heatpump water heater to take advantage of IRA tax credits/rebates while we still have them. 😬 Roommate & I have *just* enough hubris to think we can install it ourselves (& do a DYI garage reno while we’re at it) Anyone have any DIY stories to share?

The patient I met while working in Liberia during the 2014 Ebola just shared this photo of our “survivor wall” and remind me that he was discharged as an Ebola survivor exactly 10 years ago on Thanksgiving Day. One of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Talk about real gratitude. 😭 #IDSky #nursing

Are we cool with birds here or nah? Because I saw a cool hawk in my neighborhood today… and *it also saw me.*

I’ve never used poweroutage.us before - kind of a cool resource and updated q 10 minutes. (After our massive storm yesterday I’m feeling very fortunate that my power is already back on!)
