Went on a foraging trip recently, and while we did find some edibles we found so much more. 📸🍄🟢
Incredibly deep purple mushroom, roughly 4 inches in height. The stem is smooth, the color of plums. the cap is textured, bumpy: feels a bit like an orange peel. So happy that my lil star jasmine is making such a big comeback. It was previously unhappy and sick, but around April it started showing new growth. Now its in full swing! 🌱

A brown/tan capped amanita, growing in wood chips on the forest floor, with a white stem and skirt visible. A tiny nibble has been taken from the cap. Forest debris speckles the mushroom.

Wildflower pot 4/18 vs 4/24 🌱📷 making a few of these for friends
A small pot is visible, filled with loose, chunky potting soil (pieces of wood and vermiculate are visible) About 15 tiny sprouts can be seen. Again, a small pot is visible. But this time only a small amount of soil can be seen, as hundreds of tiny sprouts cover it up. Most of these are California poppies (I think)

So I started a few tomatoes on my kitchen table (only like 25, this is fine 🫠) 🌱📷
Roughly 10 brand new tomato seedlings, each only with their starting leaves - which are called cotyledons - are just visible above the tops of their containers. The little plants are angled to the right, aiming themselves at the growing lamp above them. One container is labeled "san marzano 4/18"

This is Taji. Last year Taji was rescued from being tossed after some landscaping. This grouping of strawberries never produced flowers last year - im guessing from the shock. But Taji overwintered outside, and this week, Taji decided to flower. Baller 🌱📷

I *think* this is an amanita regalis, bit unsure. The cap is tan/brown, with white warts mostly apparent on its lower portion. The mushroom is growing in the shape of a heart.

A skunk cabbage, in bloom. Bright, large green-yellow leaves give way to two large yellow flowers in the center. They are growing in swampy forest A brightly colored, magenta hellebore in full bloom, the petals are large and floppy, cradled in a sage green sepal. this plant had 8 flower heads An espaliered fruit tree, I believe this is a pear. The flowers are small, white, and in tight bunches of 20 or so blossoms. A tulip, days away from blooming. The flower is still budded, covered by protective leaves, soft green with soft yellow tips. A cherry tree in bloom. A cluster of early cherry blossoms, the open flowers (5 petaled) are a soft pink, delicate enough that the sunlight shines through. The anthers (pointy, pollen covered parts, inside the flower) are a darker shade of pink, the tip of the anther is slightly orange. The closed flowers in cluster are a deeper shade of pink. Blurred in the background, you can see the tree is in early bloom. The sky is a clear blue. A cherry tree in bloom. This cluster is half open, half closed. nine blossoms can be seen, the open flowers a soft pink, the yet to open flowers, a slightly darker shade. A few dead leaves from last season can be seen, they are a beautiful copper. Two trunks can be seen in the background, the left one fully covered in a light green moss. The right one is half covered spottily in lichen and moss.

My malabar spinach has taken over the aerogarden. Lesson learned, trellis is required early on - these vines only sprouted about 2 months ago, and now I'm pulling two salads a week. 🌱
A small (36 inch tall) indoor hydroponic system, almost completely covered in deep green leafed, purple vined, malabar spinach. The vines are wrapped around anything they can find, including other vines. A basil can be seen as well as a little frog statue and ghost holding a small cactus .

I had to take a long break from these hikes, because of surgery. Had a chance to get back out yesterday, and god do I love moss season. 🟢
A wet, fallen log, with moss filling in the cracks of the bark - looking a bit like fuzzy green rivers. The moss channels run the length of the log A fallen branch, covered in lichens. The overall color is shades seafoam green. The branch is covered in flat, plaque-like lichen, the lightest green shade of them all found mixed in here with some of the most vibrant. Branching, tall lichen mixes with grassy-like tufts - making the little ecosystem visually reminiscent of a coral reef

Second large malabar spinach harvest, this one at least a full salad! This only germinated in late November! As you can see im also setting up some makeshift trellis. Can do a lot with a stick and a dremel! 🌱

Got an Aerogarden as a gift a few months back, and i gotta say it has been fun. Look at the Malabar Spinach (and basil) go! Germinated in late November and now one vine is trying to trellis on my shades ☺️ able to pull a couple big leaves every few days, cant wait to see how it is in a month🌱
Two vines of malabar spinach are growing happily upward, one vine is ahead of the others, at about two feet tall. Everyone else are between 6-12 inches. Large, dark green spinach leaves are visible, made brighter by the rhubarb red of their vines. To the left, basils can be seen bushing out. In front, a sad parsley who needs to be replaced. Back right shows a sensitive plant

So, some of the outdoor plants really took to the indoor conditions; this oregano was one. Had to name her Becky, you know? Great hair. 🌱

She succeed, folks. No leaves left because they were blighting, had to take her in from the cold, but Gertie gave us yellow cherry tomatoes. Helluva ride for this tough ol gal. Ripped from her home in a cement crack, harassed by squirrels, a desk dropped on her noggin. I think I'll save her seeds.🌱

Got a couple of new roomies, a staghorn fern and an usneoides silver sage. I'm so excited for the antler look! If anyone has tips on staghorn ferns, please share em because this is my first time with one 🌱
A hand holding up a young staghorn fern, which can grow to look like antlers. hence the name. It is somewhat succulent feeling - but waxy, thick leaves and deep green in color. Most prominently behind it can be seen a hanging silver sage, oxalis, and some baby's tears The same plants can be seen but in a non final arrangement, some other projects visible, like the little succulent garden in a makeshift wooden pot

Meet Taji. Another adoptee/rescue plant. she who bore five fruits, despite the odds. I hope she survives the repotting all right. 🌱
A strawberry of unknown variety, but likely everbearing, shows three fruits in various stages of development. The front blossom has lost some petals, the strawberry obviously formed but still yellow green. The middle blossom has lost all the petals and is just a green, tiny strawberry. The blossom in the back is the youngest, with all its petals and a still yellow center.

Ethel. The lavender who was dry, and brown leafed and quiet but now is seafoam green, soft leafed and chatty (especially so with her mushroom companions), has been named Ethel. 🌱🍄📸
