I can only compare it to like when white people want to show how 'cultured' and worldly they are and they speak totally normal English but then emphasize non-English words in an accent.

Again I'm saying this purely as a reader/writer versus a translator but it often gives the impression that the translator wants to 'remind' the reader that this is a translated work, and keeping basic shit like "Mr./Mrs." or even "mountain" in the original language makes it more 'authentic'

It's a huge problem with English translations across the board IMO, like I can only speak from a perspective of reading Chinese/Japanese translations and seeing basic words kept in to add to the ~exoticism~ of the story, despite being pointless in context. It feels really gross!
