I'm not sure if Microsoft is capable of reversing course at this point, they're too "All-in" on AI, and not taking the gaming market seriously, but it's honestly the first shovel of dirt into their moat, and it should terrify them.

If you're daily driving linux at home, you're going to go to work and decide to purchase software that runs on linux cause you know it.
Every percentage point linux goes up, is less of a moat around microsoft's monopoly. Yet they think they're untouchable and are letting the bleed start.

Like those of you who haven't switched yet, usually haven't because software you want isn't on linux or mac. But if someone does get a wedge in, and it becomes worth it to devs to port to that platform. Then the bleed accelerates.

But like I feel the general vibe of the entire D&D brand is going the other direction, and it does suck as it is so dominant a force in tabletop gaming.

I instantly gained respect for Larian cause I really felt bad playing BG3 as I crossed my "Moral picket line" to play it. Then they struck me immediately with. "We're not hiding from our problematic source material. We're confronting it." And I was really pleased to see that.

A shout out to BG3 I have is that I like half-elves, and was playing as one, and there's interactions you can have about being a bit of an outcast from both human and elf society, but also you can state you draw strength from both cultures and are proud regardless.

And besides, even if it is meant as harmless fun, with DnD and MMOs and stuff, we get really attached to our characters, we start to see them as a part of our identity. So when you act racist towards a fantasy race, it's not harmless, there's people on the other side of those characters.

Someone drew my character for me, as a woman and tragically. I've long lost it, it would have probably been on VCL! But that was defo my first crack. :P

Mine was on FurryMUCK I had a fairly feminine name but my gender was set to "Undefined" or whatever the neutral one was, I forget. :P
People would just use she/her for me by default and I would try really hard not to use my own pronouns and deflected questioning cause I didn't want to answer. :P
