We had a great day at the London Coin Fair today, followed by a flying visit to the British Museum (again) to finally see the Silk Roads! The coins were my favourite part, naturally 😂

Coming up next month we have a lovely hoard of 50 Antoniniani! I love detectorist finds because you never know when you’ll find something new. The first coin in the lot is a new type minted in the name of Diocletian. It is to be allocated 3539var in the forthcoming RIC volume 5!

I absolutely adore Roman coins, particularly Republican and Imperatorial. Of them all, this is my favourite, a Denarius from the moneyer Titus Carisius c. 46BC. Juno Moneta on the obverse and coining implements on the reverse. A perfect little image of how money was made, on money itself ✨
