Ravens come to the bird bath at my house and dunk stale bread in it to eat with their stolen chook eggs 🖤 My dog hates them despite the gifts (bread crumbs, egg shells) they leave him!

Off the top of my head (and with Australian perspective), get involved with any placemaking stuff like open streets events, cycling advocacy groups, use public transport and ride your bike and walk a lot, work in local gov (anything) will help you see how planning works (or doesn’t).
