My strict Linear Algebra professor taught us to do it both ways and grilled us on it. For an (Mxn)*(nxR) matrix, one way leads to a single (MxR) matrix where each entry has n numbers added together and the other leads to a sum of n (MxR) matrices. Good times.

The Idea of a precolonial prepatriarchal paradise in West Africa has always bothered me because theres tons of evidence in our history that shows its categorically untrue. I.e the british left northern Nigeria's islamic court system largely intact when they colonised it. Really good essay. Fun read.
