I see this a lot in many engineering teams.
The best engineers are the ones who see the full picture, question the problem, and never accept the solution as it is.

As someone who has raised chickens for almost a decade, I'd say, if you can, you should.
They are smart and very low maintenance.
You don't need to eat them.
They are great pest control system.
They go very well with gardening.
