If your worldbuilding is any good, it *should* be relevant to your themes.

In particular, the coexistence (or lack thereof) among fantasy races is an explicit theme in the books (often with clear parallels to real-world groups), so questions about such coexistence seem relevant to me.

I'm about to be a massive hypocrite, because I just said how much I hate when people drag up quotes the author made after the fact, but I still think that Tolkien hit the nail on the head with his distinction between "applicability" and "allegory".

This one includes both combatant and civilian deaths (although it still seems to exclude the Rwandan genocide for some reason), but it only goes back to 1946, so it's not terribly useful for proving the existence of the Long Peace.
