Many thanks to the staff of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Archives for their assistance last week. It is immensely satisfying when records from multiple archives begin to tell a story--in this case, regarding 1955's Operation Teapot.

Today in wishful thinking: Jacques Chaban-Delmas tells John Foster Dulles that the Algerian War is "virtually over" and that France "would not try to go very far" in building nuclear weapons, 17 December 1957.
