The second or third question I ask, as a hospital chaplain, is to engage the caregiver. Caregiving, especially as a family member, is it's own trauma.

My brother was s ward of the state of Kansas. His facility provided comfort and community that would not have been possible on an isolated farm. That place in Enid appears to be hell on earth.
