i think its all about intent, if you intentionally write something in a nonstandard way to get the reader to feel a certain way then it works great, but if you unintentionally made a mistake then it causes the reader to feel a different way than intended then its just a mistake that needs corrected

exactly! writing is all about getting the reader to feel a certain emotion or way, and writing in a nonstandard way can give even more depth into those emotions

i love when video games do a similar thing too but instead with breaking common game design conventions, like the witness or rain world
