If that’s the answer then would 2021 and 2024 be the “normal” trend points, with 2022 and 2023 being outsized due to COVID? Otherwise you’d see a dip in the aging trends from your graph? Wouldn’t that mean only a small impact from the first two years of the pandemic in terms of extra deaths?

The other question is why have total deaths remained high post COVID? It’s still around but not prevalent enough to have such an outsized impact.
