Christian, Husband, Dad. NC Educator (AP US Gov & Civics). Passionate about Ed & Ag policy. Arsenal FC & Charlotte FC. I like ampersands.
I'm glad they're at least headed in the right direction on starting pay... but the fact 25 years of experience is only worth $7,820 is literally insane.

What an absolute joke. At my next step, that is a 1.25% raise. Another pay cut.

2.3% year 1 and 3.3% year 2 is, once again, a spit in the face. It's a pay cut. I'm not surprised... but I seriously question how these people can look themselves in the mirror and be ok with that.

The "average salary" number is an inflated, nonsensical statistic. It does not account for drastic differences in local supplements/bonuses, and does not reflect the reality of tens of thousands of educators in NC... especially beginning teachers making nearly $20,000 less than that number.

Oh, I completely agree. It's a, "look, I tried," campaign tactic from Wake Co. Reps. I was just surprised to see the Gov's come in under it. It seems like he's genuinely trying to find compromise, but I just don't see the NCGA buying it. They know they can do what they want and he can't stop it.

I was also surprised to see his proposal for teacher pay fell short of the House Republican proposal in HB192.

The reality is, the Senate proposal will be even worse, and the budget will likely be closer to it than anything else.

Esse quam videri - It would be nice if our elected officials actually lived by our state motto for once.

This would be detrimental to school staff who have to work gate duty at games. Cashless payment = not having to stay and count money = far less unpaid additional hours worked.

Given the limited depth in the back-line, and especially in our fullback positions, do you foresee us bringing up any players from Crown Legacy in the short-term? With Pat's success, I'm curious if they intend to lean into homegrown talent.

Listened to the episode yesterday and just saw this. Definitely concerned about the lack of depth pieces. Starting XI is solid, but it seems like an injury could really limit our success.
