A mi a veces me tinca que es más no saber bien de qué se está hablando. Pasa en todo ámbito cuando alguien quiere explicar algo que no entiende bien, usualmente recurre a tecnicismos innecesarios.

This is the same approach as the "hyperdimensional" reply, but one dimension suffices. Basically, if you sampled points on each side independently the number of points on the whole line would be double that of each individual side (hence "double the rate").

Does this work? Take a line of length L and draw a point uniformly at random. This splits the line in two unequal pieces, whose length add up to L. The length of both sides will be equal on average, though, so with a large number of samples one approaches L/2+L/2=L or 1+1=2.
