The Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll McNeill has today officially launched a new #BowelScreen endoscopy service in Cork University Hospital.

We now have 16 endoscopy units in Ireland delivering colonoscopy procedures to people who take part in BowelScreen.

#BreastCheck is for women aged 50 to 69 who have no symptoms of breast cancer. It aims to find breast cancer at an early stage when it can be easier to treat.

✅ developed guidance for women with symptoms or post-hysterectomy
✅ introduced Personal Cervical Screening Reviews

👩‍🔬26,415 cervical biopsies were performed
📉0.8% (162 women) were diagnosed with cervical cancer - an expected outcome from colposcopy

🔹 49% had no abnormal cells
🔹 44% had low-grade abnormalities
🔹 8% had high-grade abnormalities

@hiqa.bsky.social has launched a public consultation for its draft assessment of extending the #BowelScreen programme to people aged 50 to 54.

The consultation period will be open until 15 August 2025.
