We highlight the violence problem in Nova Scotia schools. We hold the system accountable for secrecy. If the school system did their jobs we wouldn’t exist. Source identities are confidential. Pro-educator. Pro-student. Confidentiality is assured.
Leslie Thomas Junior High, you have some explaining to do.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Great job Sackville High School! You hit all the HRCE and the Nova Scotia Department of Education’s talking points to convey zero info.

Five police cars at Sackville High School today. One arrested. How’s that updated Nova Scotia school Code of Conduct working for us?

And we’re back for another school year trying to keep the leadership at Nova Scotia Department of Education (and all the regional centres) open, honest and accountable.

We’ll settle for accountable. The other two are a pipe dream.

“If it’s predictable, it’s preventable.”

Multiple school admins recently stated this philosophy is used to keep incidents out of PowerSchool. You should be able to see when a kid is about to act out. If you didn't you failed.

Logging the incident is a log of admin's failure.

This account might have to start outing school principals who fail to protect their students and staff. Consider this an advance warning.

We’re coming for you. Sleep tight.

They never really said anything of value in public anyway.

How’s school violence this year with phones not recording everything?

I suppose propositioning high school girls could be considered a “concerning interaction.” Plain English please, HRCE.

Talk to your schools about what personal information is available via the Internet. The PowerSchool breach is extremely concerning. Sources confirm that these sites have no protection against access from outside Canada. We must push for geofencing and other restrictions on how the site is accessed.

Astral Drive Junior High had a threat which required police investigation.

HRCE and the Nova Scotia Department of Education needs to instruct schools to release more information. A student-led school walkout is still planned for Monday in protest of this threat.

Parents, talk with your kids.

We made it! It was a long hike from the bowels of the other platform. Glad to be here to continue our advocacy!

On June 29, 2022, a local MLA contacted Cobequid Education Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia for names/addresses of all graduates to send them a congratulatory letter. CEC complied. This was a serious breach of privacy. Media did NOT cover this.

Dave Ritcey has been the MLA for Truro since 2020.

If you’re parent of a student in any Nova Scotia school, a teacher, EA/EPA or any other kind of support worker, then you are part of the solution whether you know it or not.

I challenge you to hold the system accountable. From Halifax to Amherst to Yarmouth, this account will help empower you.

We’ve been advised there’s been a recent frantic effort to remove Social Insurance Numbers & other private info from PowerSchool by leadership of all Regional Centres for Education in Nova Scotia.

We need more information. Confidentiality assured.
