The Pacers are trying! But yeah, their first chip the Admiral was a big piece, but the rest it was very Duncan lead.

But of course it only happened then cause they made other great picks in future drafts that weren’t top picks (TP/Manu/Kawhi).

For sure, most teams tank cause they feel they have no choice. That’s what they’re selling on, that there’s a process that will lead to something.

But like the only time it’s fully worked this century, where a team is bad and drafts a guy top 3 that leads them to a chip is Duncan (and that was ‘97)

Yeah if you look historically, there’s only a few examples of tanking actually leading to a championship, and those usually require some pretty special circumstances (Cleveland tanking to get Kyrie, but then LeBron comes back, etc.)

Most teams are tanking just to sell fans on the idea of a plan.

He did the same thing at Bama in 2024 when UGA nearly came back at the end of the game. Decided who he was throwing to pre-snap, and just threw an unnecessary 50/50 ball. Neither were like “the clock is about to expire” situations.

Can’t believe he didn’t learn from that.

Abolish the gather step.

It makes determining what is a travel difficult for the refs in real time, and it just looks like a travel to everyone watching (even when the move is technically legal).

It hurts the brand of the game. I have no idea why they codified it to begin with.

If BYU gets left out, it’ll be because they were ranked 11th when there’s 2 auto bids going to conference champions. Alabama is 9th, losing this game shouldn’t drop them below ND when ND didn’t play the extra game. (Debating the rankings pre this week is fair, but that’s why BYU may be left out).
