Honestly, rather than focusing on the OS, I would recommend looking at desktop enviroment as that is the one that you will be dealing with on a daily basis. There is no point in getting Ubuntu if you run XFCE rather than GNOME.

My personal recommendation would be anything that comes with KDE Plasma
