Tom Petty played this on his Christmas show. Made me wonder if any of his early bands leading up to Mudcrutch ever played with the Royal Guardsmen.

I was working a shift at my college radio station that night in 77. The UPI teletype was dinging madly. A sound normally heard when war breaks out or a nuclear meltdown. Crazy what the mind remembers.

I'm not going to allow Bluesky to own my photos but I have a ticket for ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd. 3 bucks. Elon College. 10/20/73. 4 years later, on the same date, something else happened .
