It's gone a bit upmarket since I was there in 1994. Does it still sell the same wide range of products?

All that shouting at the clouds fiannly worked and we had a clear, moonless night a couple of days ago. So I finally got a chance to have a go at Orion

I didn't expect this to work at all. Last night was clear but with a bright waxing half moon. So I took 250 images from my city garden, not expecting anything useful, but got this. With a bit more processing it could be better, Note the red Alnitak nebula, near the bottom left star in Orinon's belt

At the end of my frozen session taking pictures of Andromeda the other day, I quickly took 59 of Orion, my next target. So I put them together today - you can't really do that much with just 50 images - but it's a preview of what's to come 🙂

We had a clear, moonless sky yesterday, so here is the result of standing outside for three hours in Hockering, Norfolk, taking 1000 photos of Andromeda.

Well, only one clear night with no moon - and then only for a couple of hours before the moon came up, otherwise it's been constant clouds. Anyway, here's Orion rising through the light glare of Norwich and the Pleiades. It's all still up there, just no chance to see it.

We finally had a clear night with no moon last monday and a little of tuesday. I managed to get this of Andromeda. My first go (following an introduction tutorial on youtube) to Siril andd starmap software. All good fun stuff :)

comet Tsuchinshan, not quite the stunning show we were promised. It might have been brighter before sunset, but it was cloudy. But hey, I saw it.

Also saw a fleet of satellites go past

My first proper first attempt at deep space photography using lots of stacked images. After weeks of cloudy nights last Friday ws pretty good, so here's 187 pictures worth of the Andromeda galaxy.

It's still a bit low in the sky, it'll be better in a month or so and it needs more photos

I took this picture of the Andromeda galaxy last night, it's that small smudge the arrow is pointing to. The Andromeda galaxy contains a trillion (1,000,000,000,000) stars, all in the tiny smudge. It's low in the eastern sky just after sunset if you want to go look for it.
