Happy overall - I knew I would face a lot of steelsong, but stuck to what I was most comfortable playing. Achieved a new milestone placing 3rd at set champs! Thanks everyone for the encouragement and support!

It’s the “game within the game” hense the self referential nature. It’s the paper rock scissors of differing deck strategies.

That’s a backronym where the word established for the meaning of a thing later has an acronym applied that has the same or a similar meaning. Meta just means “self referential” so in the context TCGs the metagame is the collection of popular decks,and the strategies used to play against them.

No matter how much killer instinct or will to win you display it often comes to down to something outside of your control. The only thing to dwell on is if there were any true play errors or overall strategy mistakes you made along the way and to try and learn from it, but sometimes you just lose :(

TCG is inherently a variance game. There is the matchup lottery. Your draws vs theirs, etc. The only thing you can control is your preparation and play. To position yourself in diverse and changing metas to be in the semi final of competitive events 5 consecutive is a testament to your skill.

TCG is inherently a variance game. There is the matchup lottery. Your draws vs theirs, etc. The only thing you can control is your preparation and play. To position yourself in diverse and changing metas to be in the semi final of competitive events 5 consecutive is a testament to your skill.
