Time for a new challenge. 🚀

After many rewarding years in economics, I’ve decided to take a new direction. As of today, I serve as Head of Division (Referatsleiter) at the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, the executive office of the Prime Minister of Germany’s largest federal state.

Yet, I am still extremely sad about IZA's main assets - the institute itself, its postdoc program, it's Berlin and Bonn campus, the guest program and the workshop series - being cancelled. It remains a big loss.

I am super happy about the IZA network and DP series having found a new home at @liser.lu . Having visited in the past, I think LISER is the kind of place IZA could (and should ) have been. I wish them all the best!

I have spent more than 13 years of my career at @iza.org Bonn. I was able to climb the in-house career ladder quite a bit: I started as an intern, was then hired as a student helper, and offered an IZA PhD scholarship. Eventually, I became a Senior Research Associate and Team Leader. (1/4)

My fantastic former colleague @czimpelmann.bsky.social
is on the #EconJobMarket! Please have a close look at his profile and especially his super interesting JMP on the importance of gender role attitudes on female labor supply after childbirth. Thread below👇🧵
JMP alert 🎉

What drives maternal labor supply - a key factor for labor market inequalities?

Gender role attitudes!

We use reduced form and structural methods to show that they are of first-order importance, both directly and through the mediation of policies (w/ Tim Mensinger)
