“The significance of the fact that the vetdict was handed down by a unanimous jury of 12 of Defendant's peers, after trial, cannot possibly be overstated.”

Trump of course will appeal but hard to see a higher court reversing given the mild sentence. And most important is convictions remain

Legally speaking, a sentence of basically nothing but for 34 felony convictions is still a scarlet letter that marks him in history. Looking forward to discussing on @msnbc w/ @aliciamenendez.bsky.social at 5 pm ET

It was a certainty at this point that Trump wasn’t going to do time. In light of that, Merchans opinion does the most important political and historical work and is a welcome development. You’ll see proof of that in Trump’s outraged appeal.

The important point under New York law: “a sentence of unconditional discharge is for all purposes a final judgment of conviction.”

Republicans: *cheer*

Jeffries: Thank you for that very generous applause. It's ok. There are no election deniers on our side of the aisle.

Tomorrow and Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial, make your voices heard! Let Congress know that we haven’t forgotten the 14th Amendment.
It was an extraordinary, almost surreal, day on Capitol Hill for our #14thNOW Day of Action, telling lawmakers that their legacies will forever be tied to democracy's demise if they fail us now. We sure hope so, @raskin.house.gov. Object to the certification of Trump's electors under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. It's the only legal choice for an adjudicated insurrectionist. The Constitution is not optional. #14thNOW

I look forward to being back on @meidastouch.bsky.social today to talk about standing up to Trump and his Maple-Maga minions in Canada.
Here's the latest op-ed on how Canada's parliamentarians need to stand up to Trump.

Stand up to the bully
Canadians want reassurance people in Ottawa are ready to defend our values against Donald Trump's tirades. It is deeply disconcerting this is not happening.
