We're urging @speakercarlheastie.bsky.social to schedule the Protect In-Person Visits bill, A4603, bill for a vote now. The Senate has passed it six years in a row. We need New York to TAKE ACTION before the session ends to ensure people can visit their incarcerated loved ones in person.

Police violence is a national emergency that requires federal leadership, not cowardice.

We call on Congress to investigate the DOJ's retreat from consent decrees. We call on the Trump admin to immediately reinstate oversight. And we call on YOU to continue demanding justice.

In 2022, we sued Lexington PD on behalf of the people of Lexington, MS who suffered from the dept's racist & profit-driven policing. The now-abandoned 2024 DOJ investigation confirmed what our clients already knew. And we'll continue to fight for them with or without the feds.

We are here in Louisiana honoring the memory of Ronald Greene, a 49yo Black man who was beaten, tased & left to die by Louisiana State Police. As Trump's DOJ retreats from holding this & other problematic agencies accountable, we say his name & continue to fight.

Today we gathered in New Orleans, where we have filed an appeal on behalf of the people of Lexington, MS, one of many communities the DOJ has abandoned as they step back from their responsibility to enforce civil rights law & protect Black lives.

This #LawDay, lawyers across the country will recommit to the rule of law in the face of a regime attempting to intimidate anyone who opposes its radical, repressive agenda. We are proud to stand with them.

Trump's executive order to "unleash" the police is not about public safety or justice. It's about expanding authoritarian control and punishing dissent, the latest in a series of attacks designed to suppress legal opposition to Trump’s radical agenda, including shielding police from accountability.

Happening Now: UCLA Law Professor and civil rights attorney @jcschwartzprof.bsky.social speaking now about why it’s important to sue the police.
April 24, 2025 at 5:18 PM
@jcschwartzprof.bsky.social shares a powerful example of why we must persist in suing the government. For the family of Anthony Vargas, murdered by 2 East LA sheriffs in 2020 as initiation into the LASD Banditos gang, a lawsuit brought answers.

Hope rises despite government failure. As the DOJ steps back, NPAP steps in. As Alex Hensley of Decarcerate Memphis tells us, local advocates have been fighting for police reform in their communities for decades. They’re not about to stop now.

🗣Tag someone you know who needs to see this.

Police accountability can’t wait—and we won’t either. At NPAP, we’re using lawsuits to fight for victims of police violence, set legal precedents & win reforms that protect everyone. Because public safety without accountability isn’t safety at all.

This year marks 5 years since the murder of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, daughter, and sister who should still be with us today. 5 years later, it is more urgent than ever that we #SayHerName, remembering that police brutality is a feminist issue. @aapf.bsky.social
