Since the Mushrooms are green, can we make the case that Mario is a 40k Ork?

All Jed wanted to do was die. It’s had been 2 millennia since the Program has latched onto him like a lost puppy… with technology so advanced it might as well be magic. The thing meant well, but road to hell and all that. He just wants to rest, and finally be free of a world he no longer understands

Yeah, doesn’t mean it’s good cyberpunk, it’s doesn’t have to be good to fit the genre.

I get where you are coming from, but certain things define cyberpunk:
1. The dehumanizing use of technology
2. Corporations and capitalism are the central bad guys
3. The protagonists are working class malcontents or insignificant to the system in some way.

These are the core of cyberpunk.

I prefer the more environmental storytelling of the Soulsbourne games, or the unique approach of Undertale. Games are a new medium, I think we should embrace the unique ways they allow us to tell stories that can’t be done in a passive medium like TV or Film.

My personal favorite Cyberpunk without the ascetic is Severance. It ticks all the boxes except the look.
