Yes, we show it in a bit more subtle ways at first, but this is how it culminates.

Yeah, exactly. We say don't fall for sunk cost fallacy, but it's very hard to drop a project, even if you know that there is no way, you'll be able to finish it.
And then having to defend your choice on top of that just adds to the pressure.
