I won’t be around my in-laws anymore—definitely not alone but also not with one other person. Large group settings with non-family not simply “in the room” but actively engaged in whatever, or nothing. It’s been mostly nothing since 2022.

I won’t open it, because I don’t believe in rewarding bad behavior, but it’s definitely got me wondering.

See, she’s lost the privilege of communicating with me at all. I used to read the cards/ecards, but after my most recent birthday, I’ll no longer be doing so. The manipulation attempt really does intrigue me—what insult or backhanded “compliment” could she possibly be so frantic for me to read?
