I want to post it here but it's fucking exhausting doing it on my phone.

And not for nothing, but they blamed it on COPD.

I'm convinced it was Long COVID. He had COPD but it was stable and okay, until he got COVID. He got better, but the COPD was so, so much worse. I'm amazed he got through the COVID, but I'm LIVID that they're not tying it to Long COVID.

If that's not the widow experience, I don't know what is.

Our marriage and our relationship, in total, lasted about 13 years. Turns out, if you love someone for that long, even if that persona turned out to be mostly lies, it still hurts like a motherfucker.

My ex-husband is dead. We were on OK terms there at the end, the last year or so of his life, but we did not have an amicable divorce and hadn't been together for over 5 years.

I still feel like a widow. Fuck, I cleaned his balls off for him the day before he died because he lost motor control.

It showed me, however, that I'm good at that. I sort of want to go into hospice care in some form, because the people who helped us were so great and understood where we needed to be and met us there. I didn't realize I HAD that level of compassion.

I wasn't prepared for how much it hurt.

I helped my daughter (who he lived with) organize visiting with relatives and friends. I helped get her into contact with our union brothers and sisters so they could say goodbye. I helped prepare his room for at-home hospice. I helped him prepare for death. I was basically a PA but about death.
