I got Yareli a bit later. But is one of my most player Warframes.

Got stuck on the 'earn lots of trick points' step until I learnt how to chain them.

You don't have to do the Nightmare missions, they are optional.
Nightmare missions appear on the same location as a normal mission and you should get the option to select normal or nightmare.

But, yes, Nightmare missions might be a way to get access to things you can't normally.

Which Yareli?
If you mean the standard one you do need to finish that quest to get all the BPs.
