But with all that said Linux is actually getting really good these days, I'm willing to give it a complete go once games on Intel iGPUs match the performance on Windows. Or I get an AMD system.

It works out of the box on Firefox (yay) but SD videos look more pixelated on Linux than Windows because every browser on Linux uses bilinear upscaling for some reason.

There's problems with 11 like unnecessary AI bloat and needing an online account for whatever reason, but like most things on the internet it's very overblown. I uninstall Copilot and I hide the AI button in Notepad. On Linux I have to find some launch command to allow HW video decoding on Chrome.

I mean *allegedly* they've been using a limited version of it since like May, I keep one account around to follow artists that don't use Bsky. If I can tell it to stop showing me politikz ragebait it might be almost usable

I think it's the For You page becoming explicitly AI driven rather than interactions and keywords fed into a black box algorithm

But I guess you can make the argument that a black box algorithm was already bad? I'm actually kinda interested to see how this plays out.

There is certainly some crossover with the "prepper" community but I think it's amusing simply as a way of wireless communication that isn't the internet. More a hobby than something useful though someone might find an actual use case for it.

in its defense it has gotten maybe 20% better at not showing me people yelling about us politics over the last month

Unlocked (or Wi-Fi only) Samsung devices don’t do this, it’s usually carriers that think this is funny.

If you look up your carrier and “games install during update” or something like that you can probably find the culprit carrier-bundled app that installs stuff in the background.
